Dance

by Samantha Sullivan
(Lutz, Florida)

When I tipped the scale at 178 at only 62 inches tall, I freaked! I had 13 month twin son's at home and three older children and found it very hard to schedule time for walks, biking and so on so I started dancing in the privacy of my home with my little twins watching and cheering me on and even dancing with me. I would turn the music up loud, make sure it was DANCE music with a great beat and just move to the music. I like dancing and used to dance a lot before children. I do this every day for 30 to 40 minutes and sometimes longer if my twins allow. I follow up with 5 sets of 25 crunches. It gets my heart rate up, and it brightens my mood. I feel good about myself for doing it. So far with dance and cutting out soda and keeping my calories to aprox. 1200 a day I have lost 13 lbs in one month. I eat anything I want, but keep track of the calories( I keep a food journal and measure my portions)- no low carb diet here and I don't walk around feeling like I am starving. I still have some weight to lose, but I have found a great way to do it and I actually look forward to it! I have no doubt that I will hit my goal of 140. I think the best diet and exercise routine is the one you formulate for yourself. You know you like it and because of it, you're more likely to stick to it.
