Which Protein is Good for You and for Earth

by Paul Samuels
(Sunnyvale, CA)

I've been using non-GMO Soy Proteins and like it just as much.

Whey protein comes from whey which comes from cows. Cows feed on vegetation. So why not cut the chase and get the protein which is so similar in nutrition value and comes directly from Soy? Except for those who like get-rich-quick schemes, I think it should be a no brainer to use Soy protein.

SoY and Whey has their own bebefits and its a good think to combine various type of protein in your diet including Eggs, meat(Beef/goat/pork), fish and poultry

Ecological impact of whey
by: Anonymous

Your comment makes sense. Cows, though they are meant to eat grass, are fed corn and soy. Livestock production is the #2 top contributor to greenhouse gas emissions (Transportation is #3). While it is true that increased soy production has led to deforestation, it is also true that the rising demand for beef and dairy contributes to soy production, since cows eat soy too. If you choose whey protein, you are casting your vote for environmental devastation. Soy protein is not perfect and has an ecological impact of its own, but it's far less than whey's and it decreases your chances of heart disease.
