The "Ice Cream Tub" Trick

by Malia
(Los Angeles)

Isn't eating ice cream straight out of the tub one of the most fun things to do? It probably happens in just about every household in America. It makes us happy, we get that guilt free feeling like "well, I didn't actually get a dish out and serve myself any ice cream.." Plus we get that feeling of "sneaking cookies from the cookie jar" that we participated in frequently as children.

WELL, my solution to this is...drum roll...replacing ice cream with 1% cottage cheese and/or non-fat yogurt! BUT, you must buy these products served in the large tubs instead of the individual servings. This way, you can treat the yogart/cottage cheese just like you did the ice cream, but NOW you are consuming hearty protein and nutrition instead of heavy cream. When ever you have a craving, feel like munching or simply feel a little hungry between meals, indulge. Tah-Dah! Solved :-)

It sounds good to me but I like cottage cheese and yogurt better than icecream ...

Be careful
by: Anonymous

Even using this method, be careful of these processed foods. The amount of sodium in cottage cheese is very high. Yogurt would probably be better. Everything in moderation I suppose, although that goes against the idea of this "trick". Just my 2c.

this sounds insane
by: Anonymous

If you have a problem with a ice cream carton, your probably over weight, and if you need to put cottage cheese in a tub to mentally psyche yourself out, then that's even crazier. YEAH, great substitute, but that's not gonna kill a craving for sweets. Why not get some low calorie sugar free gum, and chew the hell outta that if it's flavor you want
