If you like spicy foods, then you are in luck.

Cayenne pepper has been shown to be one of the foods that help burn fat and calories by causing a metabolic increase that often lasts for hours after eating by increasing the body's production of heat. This is called thermogenisis.

The chemical capsaicin creates this thermogenic effect and is what gives these chili peppers their "heat."

Capsaicin may also help regulate blood sugar levels. Blood sugar helps to regulate our hunger levels. Eating cayenne peppers with your carbohydrates may help blunt the blood sugar spike and subsequent crash that normally occurs after a carb heavy meal, leading to less hunger and less calories consumed.

Cayenne pepper is also a terrific substitute for some of fatty foods, like butter, that we use to spice foods. Adding a few sprinkles of cayenne pepper (or even salsa that contains cayenne peppers) to you chicken and rice or baked potato for a spicy new twist!

So go ahead, add a few sprinkles to your next meal - you might just burn a few extra calories!
