Cardio is good for your heart, but it is definitely not the way to reduce belly fat. The best exercise for this can (and should) be done every day, preferably several times a day. It can be done standing, sitting or lying down. It can be done while you are waiting for the bus or train or in the office while you are waiting for your computer to boot up, since no one even notices it.
Slowly pull your belly in as far as you can. Then hold it in for a count of ten before you slowly release it. Build the number of reps over time.
This exercise does not interfere with any other sort of exercise routine, and has been shown to be infinitely preferably (more successful for belly tightening) to crunches.
