I would like to build muscle and lose my beer gut.

I have been working out 3 days a week and doing cardio on days in between for almost a year . I started out doing the same thing Mon, Wed, and Fri , i.e. the pyramid system . I did this for about 6 months. Then I decided that maybe I should just trim down so I started doing low weights , high reps. I've been doing this for the past 4 months, but now I want to build more muscle but still lose my beer gut. I have taken note of your tips for biceps and chest, but my favourite muscle groups are shoulders and triceps. Can you recommend a plan for these muscles?
